Ouch. As a longtime teacher of the arts to young children I know how precious the soul is when art opens it up with this natural urge to express, play, discover, and to storytell. Teachers have a grave responsibility. Somewhere in younger years that happened to me, which I broke out of in my early twenties.
Funnily enough, I just wrote an article (not yet published) about learning from the masters, by doing doing renditions of their work. Do you know the book Drawing from the Right side of the Brain. A book I highly recommend.
Keep playing and tell that teacher voice to shut the fuck up! Cheers
