My Writer’s Eye is Gazing Elsewhere

I am no longer putting the energy into Medium

“Plugging In” by Janaka Stagnaro

While I am not saying goodbye to Medium, for now, like the eye of Sauron, it is focusing on my new Substack account.

Why am I following many others heading that way? I don’t know about you, but my earnings are down to a trickle. I have not been boosted in a year. While I am not primarily writing for financial reasons, I want my writing to be valued.

Substack is far more multifaceted, which will work better for me in promoting my art and spiritual guidance work and my writing. There is a lot more freedom in promoting one’s work, and there’s no significant censorship.

Substack only makes money when the content provider does, making 10% of subscriptions. Very transparent. I do not have to consult the oracle on Medium Mountain to explain my payment totals.

It is a step up in terms of being more challenging to set up a site, that’s for sure, definitely not as easy as Medium. Since this is my third day, my head is spinning with everything I need to do to set up.

I have enjoyed connecting with many of you here. I may see you over on Sustack. I will be peeking over here now and then. I may return when Medium figures out how to value dedicated writers.

Check out my Substack account. Do you have an account? Let me know. Since posting this, I have happily found Medium friends on the other side. It is like going to a party alone, thinking I do not know anyone, and then finding a room full of friends. How fun is that!

Thank you to all who have supported my work over the years. ❤️🙏
