Keep riding on, my friend. One of my best commutes was on my Trek from Santa Rosa to Sebastopol years ago. About an hour to and fro. I loved the mindfulness that it demanded to be safe, even in an area with bike trails--like walking in bear country. Kept me in shape. But after moving and living rurally with only busy sketchy roads without shoulders I gave my bike away.

Just the other day I was comparing biking to walking as I walked upon a trail and I barely missed stepping on a stink bug and avoided an ant nest, that on a bike they would have been collatoral damage. The faster we go, the more unattended damage there is. The roads attest to it.
