I'm a retired Waldorf teacher and must say that love is the foundation of the educational system. Love for Truth, Beauty, and Goodness and as a teacher embodying that. Since we go up with the grades for multiple years, the bond goes deep. Now as an art teacher going into mainstream schools I shudder at times as that sense of love is covered over by the pressure for children to succeed, and children are forced to do drudgery, and no Beauty can be found to inspire. So many good, loving teachers having to impose activities that stifle the human being.
