I can relate to and appreciate that independent confidence and bravado that you had/have, Jay, although you feel it delayed your writing prowess. I can say the same for my writing and my art. For me, while I may have had dreams of being a Hemingway early on, along the way I realized they were just creative expressions and ways of self-discovery, and hopefully inspirations for others.
