Fear of public speaking is one of the greatest fears of most. When I first became an MC for my school it was for Michaelmas, which in Waldorf schools is the festival of courage. Since that was my greatest fear I decided to face the dragon. The first thing I told the audience was that I was up there facing my biggest fear and that I was really nervous. Stating that truth made it easier than trying to hide the obvious fact. That was about 30 years ago and now it is pretty easy, although sometimes a little dragon might just rear its head. As a teacher when my students are performing I have them rename that energy that twists in the solar plexus as excitement, that these are butterflies heralding transformation. Because they will be someone new when the performance ends. Keep on doing it. Practice makes better. Cheers
